Talk: Tales of Medieval Women by Anne O’Brien

  • Pembridge Parish Hall Bearwood Lane, Pembridge HR6 9EB (map)

Anne O’Brien tells the stories of women who lived in the Welsh Marshes when the New Inn was new and the Bell Tower was newly built. She takes us inside the lives lived 700 years ago when the black & white villages were thriving communities. Dangerous times, with disease and poverty shortening lives, while the better off had to defend their lands from attack and negotiate court politics.

It’s 1934 and, with life on a knife edge, the community of Duluth are battling their way through the Great Depression. Amongst the dust and the hardship, a group of wayward travellers find each other — experiencing love, loss, life and everything in between, in a local guesthouse filled with music, hope and soul.
