Pride In Pembridge (PIPs)

A few weeks ago, PiPs planted up the East Street boxes with a red, white and blue theme, sustainably mixing annuals with existing shrubs. We hope you agree that, together with the baskets in the centre of our village, they are starting to look quite spectacular.

The wonderful July sunny weather has made it necessary to have regular watering groups, so plants in the trugs, boxes, car park, Platinum Jubilee and Memorial gardens don’t dry out.

Thank you again to villagers helping out with this valued job. Also this month, in collaboration with the British Legion we have added plant supporting obelisks along the school walk.

Maintenance has also comprised tidying and weeding Bridge Street.

Our next project will focus on the West Street approach to Pembridge, which we hope to start putting into action soon.

Happy gardening

From PiPs

PiPs worked hard last Autumn planning and planting lots of bulbs around Pembridge. I hope you enjoyed the tremendous display of Spring colour and flair. The planters to the east and north of the village, hedgerows to the west, the car park box, hanging baskets in the centre of the village, the church trug and the Platinum Jubilee Garden all looked great.

Our next project is preparing and planting for the Summer. We have chosen a red, white and blue theme and the new flowers will be planted alongside existing shrubs with sustainability in mind.

Watering is keeping us very busy at the moment, so thank you again to villagers who helped out by watering and mowing to make where we live just the little bit more special.

Happy gardening from PiPs.

Pride in Pembridge

 JUNE - JULY 24

Summer is here and our village is looking colourful and tidy.

The Platinum Jubilee Garden, Memorial Garden, and East Street planters have been pruned, weeded, and regularly watered.

We have worked particularly hard mowing and strimming the Conservation area and clearing pathways through the glade. The Himalayan Balsam is not quiteso overbearing this year because of hard weeding in the past. It has a pink flower but unfortunately prevents anything else from growing.

Thank you to all who attended the PiPs’ Parish Hall Coffee morning, provided cakes and plants and gave donations. We are very grateful, and this support helps to fund future Pride in Pembridge projects.

Next jobs include weeding Bridge Street, tidying the moat, and completing the Olympic themed East Street planters.

PIPs welcome volunteers. If you would like to join us, please contact our
