Village Show 2026
Cllr Roger Philips presents Michele d’Lemos with the Jeff Stokes Perpetual Challenge Shield and her Best Exhibit winning basket of vegetables
In addition to the competition for silverware there was a display of classic cars, a dog show and Knighton Silver Band entertained the crowds.

Pembridge Collage and Micro Museum
After many hours of painstaking work by Barry Temple- Purcell we were thrilled to unveil the Pembridge Collage at the Parish Hall during the Village Show.
The collage contains 98 photographs from the 1880s onwards featuring Pembridge places and people.
It’s on permanent display at the Parish Hall and can be seen alongside the Micro Museum whenever the Hall is open for events.
We’re preparing an index to the collage. One or two photos are unidentified so if you can help us with this task, please take a look and let us know who you think they are.
The Micro Museum is currently exhibiting the Pembridge Tea Set. This was kindly donated by Rodney Jackson. Made in Staffordshire by Royal Winton it depicts the Bell Tower and was presented to Rodney’s parents Peter and Sarah Ann Jackson by Rev Bourdillon.

Goodbye Molly, Hello Myvanwy
We’ve previously reported on the fund-raising efforts of Martin Steer who raised an astonishing £50,000 to replace the bus used by Dementia Matters Here(fordshire).
On 22nd July the new bus was formally handed over to the charity by the Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire, Edward Harley CBE at The New Inn.
DMH Chairperson Dr Shirley Evans explained how the bus enables the delivery of services and support vital to those living with dementia in rural areas. She thanked Martin for his achievement and the public for their generous support.
On the same day the charity sold its old bus, named Molly, the new one has been christened Myvanwy.

Opera, Theatre, Film and Art at Pembridge Parish Hall
The footlights season is ending with the film ‘Tangerine’ on 31st July and Puccini’s Opera ‘Turandot’ on 5th August.
The new season starts on 3rd September with an exhibition on screen of the work of artists Turner and Constable followed by a Q&A with art historian and local resident Gillian Forrester. Other treats in store are Verdi’s ‘La Traviata’, Broadway Musical ‘Girl from the North Country’ featuring the music of Bob Dylan and the National Theatre’s production of ‘The Misanthrope’ a modern interpretation of Moliere’s play. Celebrating 20 Years of the Metropolitan Opera in Cinema opera lovers will recognise a greatest hits collection of screened performances over that time.
